 Institute of Banking Personnel Selection – Clerks (IBPS Clerks) 2025: IBPS Clerks Exam is conducted every year by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) to select eligible candidates for the post of Clerk Officers in different public sector banks in India.

The Online Examination will be two tier i.e. the online examination will be held in two phases, Online Preliminary and Online Mains Examination. Candidates who will qualify and get shortlisted in Online Preliminary examination, will have to appear for Online Main examination.

Relaxation of Upper Age Limit:
For SC/ST Candidates: 5 years
For OBC Candidates (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
For PwBD Candidates: Gen/EWS – 10 years; OBC – 13 years; SC/ST – 15 years
For Ex-Servicemen (ESM) / Disabled Ex Servicemen (DESM): actual period of service rendered in the defence forces + 3 years (8 years for Disabled Ex-Servicemen belonging to SC/ST) subject to a maximum age limit of 50 years
For Widows, divorced women and women legally separated from their husbands who have not remarried : Age concession upto the age of 35 years for General/EWS, 38 years for OBC and 40 years for SC/ST candidates
For Persons affected by 1984 riots: 5 years

Educational Qualification:

Educational and Technical Qualification:
A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
The candidate must possess valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day he / she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.

Computer Literacy: Operating and working knowledge in computer systems is mandatory i.e. candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/College/Institute.

Scheme of Examination:

The IBPS Clerk selection process consists of 2 phases (preliminary and mains) and the candidate must qualify each of them to proceed to the next phase. IBPS Clerk Prelims and Mains Exam will now onwards be conducted in 13 regional languages along with English & Hindi. The main thing to note here is that there is no interview process required for the selection of candidates after the mains exam. 100% weightage is given to the result of the mains exam result. Mentioned below are the important steps of the IBPS Clerk Recruitment Process:

Phase-1 : Online Prelimary Examinations:

The IBPS Clerk preliminary examination has a duration of 20 minutes for each section, which will be conducted in online mode. It consists of 3 sections with a total of 100 questions and a maximum score of 100 marks. There is a negative marking in the IBPS Clerk pre-exam and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates must clear the cut-off in all 3 sections to qualify for the IBPS Clerk Main exam. The section-wise details are given below:

Note: Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing minimum cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS. The adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by IBPS depending upon requirements will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination.

Phase II – Online Mains Examination:

The IBPO Clerk Main exam is also conducted online, it has 4 sections with a total score of 200 marks and a total duration of 160 minutes. The sections must be attempted in the same order and the allotted time as mandated at the time of the exam.

There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.

Selection Process:

Marks obtained in the Preliminary Exam (Phase-1) will not be considered for final selection. Candidates must qualify for Phase 2 to be eligible for final merit. The aggregate score out of 100 is used for the final merit list for each category. Candidates with top merit rank in each category are finally selected.

IBPS Clerk Syllabus

The candidates must begin their preparation with the subject-wise SSC CGL Syllabus 2025. There are many sections in the SSC CGL syllabus from which the questions will be asked: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension.

Online Preliminary Exam Syllabus:

Quantitative Ability: Simplification, Profit & Loss, Mixtures & Allegations, Simple Interest & Compound Interest & Surds & Indices, Work & Time, Time & Distance, Mensuration (Cylinder, Cone, Sphere), Data Interpretation, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Number Systems, Sequence & Series, and Permutation, Combination & Probability.
Reasoning: Logical Reasoning, Alphanumeric Series, Ranking/Direction/Alphabet Test, Data Sufficiency, Inequalities, Seating Arrangement, Puzzle, Tabulation, Syllogism, Blood Relations, Input-Output, and Coding-Decoding.

General Awareness: This section covers Financial Awareness, Current Affairs, General Knowledge, and Static Awareness.
