TNPSC Combined Civil Services Examination – IV (Group-IV Services): The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) will begin accepting online applications for eligible candidates for Group 4 Service positions starting from April 25th, 2025, as indicated in the TNPSC Annual Planner 2025. This recruitment is an excellent opportunity for individuals aspiring to build careers in Group 4 services. The commission conducts the Combined Civil Services Examination–IV (Group-IV Services) to fill a large number of vacancies for high-grade posts such as Village Administrative Officer (VAO), Junior Assistant, Junior Executive, Bill Operator, Forest Guard, Forest Watcher, Typist, Personal Assistant, Private Secretary, Steno Typist, Receptionist cum Telephone Operator, Milk Recorder, Grade 3, Laboratory Assistant.

Candidates will be selected through a Written Exam (scheduled for July 13, 2025). Admit cards for the Preliminary Exam will be released approximately 10 days before the exam date, providing essential information such as exam timing, shift timing, and venue details.

Eligibility Conditions:

Age Limit:

The candidates should have completed the age of 18 years and should not have completed 32
years as on 01.07.2024 for all the posts, except for the posts of Village Administrative Officer, Forest
Guard, Forest Guard with Driving Licence, Forest Watcher, and Forest Watcher (Tribal Youth).

For the post of the Village Administrative Officer, Forest Guard, Forest Guard with Driving
Licence, Forest Watcher, and Forest Watcher (Tribal Youth), the candidates should have completed
the age of 21 years and should not have completed 32 years as on 01.07.2024.

No maximum age limit shall mean that the candidates should not have completed 60 years
of age at the time of selection /appointment to the post.

Posts of Forest Guard, Forest Guard with Driving Licence, Forest Watcher, and Forest Watcher (Tribal Youth):
1. Eligibility List: A separate list of eligible candidates will be created based on the marks obtained in the written exam, adhering to the rule of reservation.
2. Endurance Test: Eligible candidates will be admitted to the Endurance Test in a 1:3 ratio, which includes a physical standards verification and a walk (25 km for males, 16 km for females/third gender) to be completed in four hours. This will be conducted in Chennai.
3. Transgender Candidates: Depending on the category (male, female, or third gender) a transgender candidate applies for, the corresponding physical standards and endurance requirements will apply.
4. Medical Fitness: Candidates must also pass a medical board in Chennai regarding their fitness for outdoor work in the Tamil Nadu Forest Department.
5. Driving Test: For the Forest Guard with Driving Licence position, a driving test will be conducted.
6. Certificate Verification: After the endurance and driving tests, candidates will be called for physical certificate verification. A list of candidates will be posted on the website, and their original documents will be scrutinized.
7. Selection Process:
a. Backlog Vacancies: First, selections will be made for backlog vacancies.
b. Regular Vacancies: Next, selections will be made for regular vacancies, following the rule of reservation.
c. Shortfall Vacancies: Finally, selections for shortfall vacancies will be made from SC/ST candidates only.
